Feed Aggregator is software or hosted applications that collects feed from various sources and display it in one consolidated page or view. Feed aggregator also known as feed reader or simply as an “aggregator”. The information which gathers from the sources is the new information published from the different source. The aggregator may also license to a collection of journal from many different publisher.
The feed aggregators ( also referred to RSS aggregator ) reduce your time and effort in visiting your favorite website for updates. You only need to go the website/blog once time and subscribe to the feed; your aggregator will do the rest for you. Aggregator with podcasting capabilities can download media file automatically. Unlike the other recipients of some pushed information, the aggregator user can very easy to unsubscribe from the feeds.

There is two kind of feed aggregator: Web based aggregator (online) and desktop/software aggregator (offline).
Web based aggregator (online), allows the people to subscribe to feeds online and reads feed in a web browser. The user which was connected to the internet can access the aggregator because the application is available via web. These are some example of the web based aggregator: Google reader, Bloglines, Planet aggregator, Amphetadesk, Newsknowledges, etc.
Desktop/Software aggregator (offline), is software program installed locally that update when feeds updated. These are some example of of the desktop/software aggregator (Windows): FeedDemon, FeedGhost, internet explorer 7, SharpReader, Windows Live Mail.
